Grant Applicants - Program Guidelines

Getting a D-U-N-S® Number

To improve the statistical reporting of federal grants and cooperative agreements, the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) directs all federal agencies to require all applicants for federal grants to provide a Dun and Bradstreet Data Universal Numbering System (D-U-N-S®) Number when applying for federal grants or cooperative agreements.

You should verify that your organization has a D-U-N-S® Number. If you find you do not, you can acquire one at no cost by calling the dedicated toll-free D-U-N-S® Number request line at 1-866-705-5711 or by visiting http://www.dnb.com/us.

Be sure that the D-U-N-S® Number is the same as the number you used in the System for Award Management (SAM) as part of Grants.gov registration.
