America’s collections are for everyone. They are discovered billions of times a year in libraries and museums across the country. They enlighten and inspire all of us. Yet they are at risk.
Connecting to Collections is an IMLS initiative to aid libraries and museums in their efforts to provide the best possible care for the collections.
Opportunities for continued involvement in Connecting to Collections include an online community, created by IMLS and Heritage Preservation, featuring resources, a discussion board, and access to webinars and other opportunities for discussion that is continuing the community of practice forged by the initiative. See www.connectingtocollections.org.
The initiative is grounded in the results of A Public Trust at Risk: The Heritage Health Index Report on the State of America’s Collections. Read more.
Report to the Nation
Connecting to Collections: A Report to the Nation describes how IMLS has engaged dozens of public and private partners to reach thousands of museum and library professionals with resources and technical assistance to care for endangered collections.
