Log Number: ST-03-17-0003-17
The Mystic Seaport Museum will conserve 3,500 cellulose diacetate negatives in the Rosenfeld Collection of Maritime Photography, one of the largest photographic collections of the maritime industry. Dating from 1927 to the 1950s, the images document the golden age of American yachting. The museum will recover negatives affected by a form of deterioration known as vinegar syndrome, which will allow them to be rehoused, digitized, and made available for research and exhibition.
