Laura
Bush Announces $1.5 Million in Aid from
Institute of Museum and Library Services
Funding Details:
The Institute will award the $1.5 million
in FY07 through three grant categories, the Laura Bush
21st Century Library program (December 16 application
deadline), Museums for America (November 15 deadline),
and Conservation Project Support (October 1 deadline)
in two areas:
- Grants to support programs that introduce high school
or college students to potential careers in libraries
and museums by employing them to assist with disaster
recovery or service operations. (Laura Bush 21st Century
Librarians program for library applicants, Museum for
America program for museum applicants.)
- Grants to provide professional internships in conservation
practice at libraries and museums that have suffered
disaster-related damage. (Laura Bush 21st Century Librarians
program for library applicants, Conservation Projects
Support program for museum applicants.)
Grant applications require the participation
of at least one library (when applying through the Laura
Bush 21st Century Librarian’s program) or one museum
(when applying through Museums for America or Conservation
Project Support) as the applicant or as a partner in a
location declared by FEMA as a major disaster area in
2005 or 2006 (see list
of declared disaster Areas on FEMA's Web site). Application
guidelines will be available on the Institute’s
Web site approximately 90 days before the application
deadline. |
