IMLS presents the new Strategic Plan for FY 2022–2026 that focuses on advancing museums, libraries, archives, and their communities.

The Institute of Museum and Library Services announced today that the agency's Annual Performance Report (APR) is now available for FY 2021. The report is an in-depth look at how IMLS aligns its strategic priorities with practice.

The agencies will team up to raise awareness about the E-Rate program among Tribal libraries and organizations, which can use program funds to increase broadband access to serve their communities.

IMLS applauds the FCC’s update to its definition of "library" in the E-Rate program to include Tribal libraries, enabling them to better access federally discounted broadband services.

Native Hawaiian Library Services and Native American Library Services Enhancement grants are now available; the deadline for submitting applications for either grant is April 1, 2022.

Native American Library Services Basic grants are noncompetitive one-year grants of $6,000 to $10,000.

Since the original MOU was signed in 2013, IMLS has been helping museums and libraries to provide accurate and useful information for lawful permanent residents interested in becoming U.S. citizens. This agreement further solidifies the close partnership between USCIS and museums and libraries nationwide.

The report details the health of the agency’s finances from October 1, 2020, to September 30, 2021.

The study found the presence and usage of public libraries and museums to be positively associated with community health, school effectiveness, institutional connection, and cultural opportunity.

The funds will support the work of museums and libraries in assisting communities across the nation with pandemic recovery.
