Director of the Office of Grants Policy and Management
Connie Bodner is the Director of the Office of Grants Policy and Management at IMLS. Her responsibilities consist of maximizing the effectiveness of IMLS grant making by ensuring the development and implementation of uniform grant policies, compliance with federal requirements, and efficient management of agency resources. She previously served as a Senior Program Officer and then a Supervisory Grants Management Specialist in the Office of Museum Services at IMLS with a portfolio that focused on museum collections management, preservation, and conservation.
Connie holds a Ph.D. in Anthropology from the University of Missouri-Columbia as well as a B.A. and M.A. in Anthropology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Her academic research interests have concentrated on the development of intensive agricultural systems in Southeast Asia and more broadly the coevolution of plants and humans through time and space. She has conducted archaeological fieldwork in the U.S. Midwest and Northeast, Europe, the Northern Philippines, and the Mariana Islands. Her museum experience comprises 23 years in archaeological research and publishing, museum collections, exhibitions, public and school programs, and administration.
