Dr. Lawrence J. Pijeaux, Jr., is the immediate past president and CEO of the Birmingham Civil Rights Institute, a multi-media facility housing exhibitions of historical events from post-World War I racial segregation to present-day racial progress. Dr. Pijeaux is a member of the Alabama School of Mathematics and Science and the Alabama Bureau of Tourism and Travel. He is a board member and alumnus of Leadership Birmingham and Leadership Alabama, and past president of the Association of African American Museums.  He holds a Ed.D. in education from the University of Southern Mississippi, an M.A. in teaching from Tulane University, and a B.A. from Southern University. He completed post-graduate work at The Getty Leadership Institute for Museum Management at the University of California, Berkeley. (Term expires December 6, 2014)
