National Medal Deadline Extended for Museums and Libraries Affected By Hurricane Florence

Washington, DC—The Institute of Museum and Library Services is extending the deadline for the National Medal applications from October 1 to October 22. Institutions eligible to request the extension are those in federally declared hurricane or typhoon disaster areas (September 10 to October 1). To request an extension, email nationalmedals@imls.gov by 11:59 pm EST Oct. 1.

The National Medal for Museum and Library Service is designed to recognize outstanding libraries and museums that contribute significantly to the wellbeing of their communities. See the IMLS website for more information about applying to the program, as well as past winners.
