By Susan Hildreth, IMLS Director I had a wonderful time at yesterday's White House Easter Egg Roll. This year's theme was Let's Go, Let's Play, Let's Move, in keeping with the First Lady's Let's Move initiative to fight childhood obesity.

I spent my time at the Easter Egg Roll with our friends from UC Berkeley's Lawrence Hall of Science working with kids and families to design and then fly paper bag kites and make paper bunny copters. These were fun activities that also demonstrated principles of flight and lift. It was the third year the Lawrence Hall of Science participated in this event, representing science learning.

A year ago we launched Let's Move! Museums & Gardens, a component of Mrs. Obama's national initiative. We recently teamed up with howtosmile.org to add a great tool to our web page. Howtosmile.org, which is based at the Lawrence Hall of Science, is a free-access portal where informal educators can search engaging, inquiry-rich STEM activities for learners of all ages. The designers at howtosmile.org created a facet of the portal specific to Let's Move! Museums & Gardens, through which visitors can find activities being conducted by the many museums and gardens participating in the initiative. Visit our site today and try it out!
