The mission of the Sciencenter is to inspire excitement for science through interactive exhibits and programs that engage, educate, and empower. With the introduction of the Museums for All program in 2014, the Sciencenter has been able to extend this mission by removing the financial barrier for families to visit the museum.Read more

As one of the newest members of the Museums for All program , the International Museum of Art & Science (IMAS) joined this initiative to further expand efforts already underway to reach more children and parents, especially the underserved. This program, which we joined on February 1, 2016, expanded the IMAS’s $1 admission program from Thursday nights from 4-8 p.m. to every single day.Read more

Social media platforms have become a venue where serious discourse takes place, but much of this critical and ephemeral content is lost to researchers because few institutions are collecting and preserving it. Tools have surfaced that enable cultural heritage institutions to harvest and preserve the social media record at a much lower cost than was previously possible.Read more

Three years ago The Children’s Museum in Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania committed to the goal of enhancing the impact of our programs. One aspect of this goal was to identify underserved populations in our area and develop programs that would benefit these groups. One of the groups identified from this research was the homeschooled community.Read more

The Vermont Department of Libraries kicked off the Vermont Early Literacy Initiative - Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (VELI-STEM) program at a press conference last month at the Vermont State House. The press conference, headed by Governor Peter Shumlin and State Librarian Martha Reid, included the display of our new VELI-STEM logo.Read more

Makerspaces and maker programs in museums and libraries continue to build on momentum created by targeted efforts of federal, philanthropic and private support. The Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS), in cooperation with the Children's Museum of Pittsburgh , is wrapping up its project to create a framework to support learning in museum and library makerspaces.Read more
