Clara White Mission

The Clara White Mission will provide support to position the Eartha M. M. White Historical Museum to improve collections management and re-engage the community with public programming to preserve and interpret the cultural and historical experiences of African Americans in northeast Florida. The museum has been unable to offer programming or services since March 2020, when it shut down and released its staff due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Mission will coordinate the hiring of a part-time director and assistant to initiate an inventory of its furniture and memorabilia, including items in off-site storage facilities, and an update to the museum’s exhibitions. The new staff will also recruit a docent corps and expand programming. Museum information will be updated on the Clara White Mission website and a dedicated website for the museum will be developed.
