The Corita Art Center (CAC) in Los Angeles —formed by the Immaculate Heart Community in 1997 to preserve the art and uphold the legacy of artist, educator, and social justice advocate Corita Kent—will expand its outreach and education activities through the development of online resources, including bilingual workbooks in Spanish and English, activity packets, videos and livestreamed workshops as well as in person social justice events via CAC’s mobile art trailer for children, youth, families, and individuals in underserved communities. This program seeks to address three main issues caused and exacerbated by the COIVD-19 pandemic: the effects of social isolation on mental health, the loss artist livelihood, and the issue of social justice.
