Salem Art Association (Bush House Museum)

The Salem Art Association will hire an education director to develop programs and field trips that will encourage the return of school and family visitors to its Bush House Museum following the COVID-19 pandemic. The education director will redesign existing field trips for fourth graders and develop new field trip experiences for middle and high school students that connect to state education standards. The association will post educational materials for K-12 students online. With support from local historians and leaders of underrepresented communities, the museum will rewrite scripts that its guides use to conduct tours, as well as exhibition materials to include the history of Salem’s diverse, early community. The association will also develop tours of downtown Salem that reinterpret historic buildings and events in Salem’s history, providing a bridge to current social and racial justice issues.
