Kentucky Historical Society

Log Number: ARPML-250850-OMLS-22

The Kentucky Historical Society will host trauma-informed training for staff and collaborate with state and local organizations to create a traveling display, related programming, and an adjacent collecting opportunity to capture stories and encourage reflection about the COVID-19 pandemic and concurrent social unrest. The traveling display will feature the Kentucky Maskmakers’ quilt, created by a diverse group of Kentuckians with fabric they had used to create masks in the spring and summer of 2020. The display also will include five interpretive panels, a case for 3-D objects and paper materials, and an electronic interactive showcasing a scrapbook of the quilt’s construction and letters from Kentucky residents to Governor Beshear. The historical society and its partners will develop programming guides, collecting information, and an opportunity to participate in facilitated story circles, or conversations.
