Historical Society of Long Beach

The Historical Society of Long Beach in California, in partnership with the Black Student Union Elders Association, seeks to expand its educational opportunities to exhibit the society’s collection, add historical context, and produce a symposium. The museum will develop complementary docent materials and encourage visitors to contribute materials of communities who have been underrepresented in the museum’s historical collections and have faced disproportionate impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic. The museum also will develop new community collaborations reflecting the racial and ethnic demographics of Long Beach. Through the materials it collects, the museum will tell a more complete history of Long Beach.
