The Irene Ingle Public Library in Wrangell, Alaska, will expand its operating hours to better serve patrons on a more regular basis. The library was looking to fill a vacant staff position when it was forced to shut down in March 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. When the library reopened almost 3 months later, it decreased the hours it was open to the public from 38 a week to 20. By hiring a library assistant, the library now will be able to better serve the community by providing services for an additional 15 hours per week, including on the weekends. As COVID-19 recovery continues, the library will serve as a trusted place for community engagement.
