City of Platteville (Mining and Rollo Jamison Museums)

The Mining and Rollo Jamison Museums will implement a project to improve the long-term preservation and accessibility of its collections. Staff will clean, inventory, photograph, catalog, and rehouse objects in the collection according to best practices. They will assess the priority for processing objects based on the vulnerability of the artifact, alignment with the museum's collections policy, and usefulness to researchers. This project will address overcrowding, a backlog of uncatalogued artifacts, and improve intellectual control of the collection to provide greater accessibility for museum staff, researchers, students, and the public.
