George Mason University (The Virtual Library of Virginia)

Log Number: LG-252309-OLS-22

VIVA, the Virtual Library of Virginia, a consortium of academic libraries within the Commonwealth of Virginia will conduct a two-year planning grant to plan and develop a proof-of-concept open homework repository with the extensibility to integrate into learning management systems. This project features several partners and collaborators, including: GALILEO (Georgia), The Louisiana Library Network, Partnership for Academic Library Collaboration and Innovation (Pennsylvania), Ohio Library and Information Network, and one statewide OER program, Open Oregon Educational Resources. The Roy Rosenzweig Center for History and New Media at George Mason University will function as a liaison with and organizer of faculty testers and focus groups throughout this project. This project will create an extensible repository for the storage and sharing of open, ancillary course materials and detailed plans for future iteration, outreach, and adoption. This will provide tools for instructors who are willing to consider open educational resources and open educational models but are reluctant to abandon course materials that are packaged with expensive homework systems.
