The District of Columbia Public Library will use funds to support the goals of their Five-Year Plan for FY 2013-2017, which reflect the purposes and priorities of the Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA). In the District of Columbia, specific goals address 1) enabling District residents to have the reading skills, information resources, and library services they need to succeed; 2) providing access to library and information services and resources; 3) facilitating knowledge, skills and tools District residents need to acquire productive and fulfilling employment; 4) providing community-based library programs that allow District residents to expand their involvement in community life; and 5) building the capacity of library staff members.
