Guam Public Library

Guam Public Library System (GPLS), the main depository of federal and local materials on Guam, will use grant funds to convert aging microfilm collections to a more accessible electronic medium. GPLS will procure conversion services from an outside vendor for over 400 microfilms representing historic U.S. Consul dispatches and local news publications. This history is important to researchers, educators, students, and the general public. Through its planned conversion efforts, GPLS will preserve these materials for future generations. The project will have additional impact in the form of improved information retrieval for library staff as well as any needed training on the chosen format.
