Purpose: Serving as Centers of Community Engagement The Armory Northwest Initiative of the Armory Center for the Arts in aims to bring expanded arts and arts education resources to the children and families of northwest Pasadena through the Armory's new facility in that underserved community. In this project, the Armory will build on the programs and services it currently offers in the community, including at the new facility, in an effort to strengthen the Armory Northwest as a primary center for engaging the community in meaningful and effective arts education activities and to enhance the Armory's ability to serve the community. The programs and services that will be expanded and enhanced are exhibitions of contemporary art, the artists-in-residence program, exhibits of student work, art studios, classes, workshops, and apprenticeships, as well as the already successful programs for artists in the community and artists in the schools. By providing a range of public programs both at the Armory Northwest and in partnership with local schools and community centers, the Armory Northwest will enhance its role as a center for community engagement and as the community's primary arts and arts education resource.
