The Oakland Museum and California Foundation will use its grant to fund “What’s Happening California?”—a collaboration between the Oakland Museum of California and California State University professors and students. This project will produce two 250-square-foot installations that will bring stories from around the state into the museum’s Gallery of California History. Over two years, each “What’s Happening California?” installation will be co-curated with a different CSU class and will include stories and artifacts researched by students in social science fields. These rotating installations will cover topics of importance to the students’ home communities, linking them with the overall California story told in the gallery.
