The Historical Society of Western Pennsylvania will design, create, and coordinate travel for a 500-square-foot exhibition about the role of western Pennsylvania in the Civil War. The exhibit will consist of three life-size historic figures from the Civil War era; modular panels describing western Pennsylvania’s contribution to the Civil War through subjects such as women, children, African Americans, immigrants, soldiers, politicians, and civilians; and include display cases so that items from the collections of local history organizations that are hosting the exhibit can be showcased in the exhibit. The long-term goal of the project is to help increase public participation in county, regional, and local history through creating new opportunities for local hosting institutions.
