Log Number: MA-05-11-0468-11

The National Japanese American Historical Society (NJAHS) will develop a collections plan that will guide the museum’s collecting activities and maintenance and emphasize the integration of collections as it pertains to NJAHS’ mission, interpretation, and facilities. The plan will include the needs for the collection, collecting projections, an assessment of appropriate collecting activities, and organizational support. The goals of this plan are to 1) disseminate to the general public the story of the World War II Japanese American experience both on the battlefield and during the eviction from their communities on the West Coast and incarceration in U.S. government confinement camps; 2) educate the public about the power of historic objects in preserving and sharing the story of earlier generations; and 3) serve as a community-accessible facility for the preservation and interpretation of historical objects.
