The State Historical Society of Colorado plans to refine and strengthen the implementation of the “Museum of Memory” project by maximizing community-led collective memory work and its contribution to social wellbeing. This public history program brings community together to remember and document their experiences, creating opportunities for those historically impacted by systems of oppression and inequality to explore their past through memory sharing, storytelling, grassroots collecting efforts, and art-based community share backs. The updated project will promote learning conversations with former community partners to explore best practices with future projects, implement memory projects with new community partners to address cultural engagement needs, and organize a learning symposium to bring all Museum of Memory partners and staff together to co-develop a framework to improve community health and wellbeing.
