Princeton University (Princeton University Art Museum)

Log Number: MA-30-17-0551-17

The Princeton University Art Museum will standardize and enhance cataloging for the 6,516 works in its drawings collection in order to increase public access for teaching, learning, research, and publication, both online and onsite. The project will develop image annotation tools and an online publishing template to facilitate exploration and scholarly exchange on its website, and address conservation priorities to ensure sustained access to these materials. Catalog work will include deeper research on approximately 500 artworks, providing detailed visual descriptions, keyword tags, bibliography, provenance, exhibition history, past research, and interpretive writing. These improvements will ensure expanded public and scholarly use of the collections by university faculty and K-12 teachers, their students, community members, and international scholars. Resulting data will be published as open content on the museum's website and also be made available digitally via ARTstor, which serves as a hub to the Digital Public Library of America's free portal.
