Dr. Carter G. Woodson African American Museum

Log Number: MH-251598-OMS-22

The Dr. Carter G. Woodson African American Museum will build its capacity to develop exhibitions and programs by expanding its professional staff and creating a paid internship program. A newly hired curator/exhibition developer and program manager will recruit 15–18 student interns from area colleges over the three-year project period. The interns will support the curator/exhibition developer in inventorying and cataloging collections, drafting a collections management policy, producing three small pilot exhibitions, and developing a larger exhibition for the museum’s new space. They will work with the program manager to build community relationships and develop new K–12 school programs and public programs. Improving operations in these areas will better position the museum for a smooth transition into its new facility.
