Log Number: ML-01-03-0749-03

Purpose: Building Public Access The Hot Springs County Museum and Cultural Center will improve the accessibility of the museum's collections through staff and volunteer training and staff activities that will result in new exhibits. The museum will offer workshops to staff and volunteers in conservation, collections management, collections storage and access, and exhibit development. Exhibits designer John Carr will present a one-day workshop entitled Exhibits Boot Camp: Basic Training for Modern Museums, presenting the basic skills the staff will need to construct two new exhibits. The museum will also purchase and network computers and hire a part-time registrar to complete the ongoing computerization of the collections database. The networked records will enable the museum to access information needed in designing new exhibits and will make its collections and archives more accessible to staff, volunteers, students, and anyone researching the history of Hot Springs County.
