Amarillo Art Center

Purpose: Expanding Educational Services Grant funding will support Youth Artreach, which cultivates school and community-based partnerships to extend the reach of the Amarillo Museum of Art and maximizes the impact of educational programs through the Museum. The program will reach out to children through two major areas--the classroom and after-school programs. Children will be encouraged to experience the Museum in a variety of ways, including pre-visit preparatory activities, visits to the Museum, and post-visit extension activities. Children will also be invited to come back to the Museum with their families for special events. Artreach comprises: education artpacks; gallery excursions and art activities; Internet classroom; distance learning video conferencing; family artventures. While each program element features specific information and interactive activities, they combine to create a diverse program for spanning geographical, cultural, economic gaps to unite children.
