Old Jail Art Center

Purpose: Expanding Educational Services This grant will support a three-year collaborative effort between the Old Jail Art Center (OJAC) and the Albany Independent School District that will positively impact the region. Art for All will develop a visual arts curriculum for area schools that is closely tied to the OJAC art collection. It will then use interactive distance-learning technology to disseminate the curriculum throughout the region. This technology enables a teacher in one location to teach students at another location. Cameras and microphones at both locations will enable the instructor to see and talk to the students in real time, and to do demonstrations or show other visual resources to students who are supervised and aided in their own lab. Once OJAC's program is disseminated, schools districts will have access to certified art instruction that they could not otherwise afford.
