The Pueblo of San Juan is one of six Tewa-speaking pueblos located forty miles north of Santa Fe, NM. The Pueblo of San Juan Tribal Council and community members are currently planning for the new First Capital Heritage Center-Ohkay Owingeh Museum, which will be adjacent to the Eight Northern Indian Arts and Crafts building on the San Juan Pueblo Land Grant. This grant will allow the tribe to undertake a needs assessment and survey to identify social and educational goals for the new museum, as well as compose a Preliminary Museum Plan. The Preliminary Museum Plan will identify the type of facility needed, collection scope, and audience needs; a general mission statement and strategic plan will also be incorporated into the plan.
