The Bad River Band of Lake Superior Tribe of Chippewa Indians seeks to develop a five-year strategic plan that will culminate in the opening of a new museum and cultural center. An architectural and engineering firm will be hired to participate in 24 meetings with tribal representatives and museum professionals to gather ideas about the design of the building. The tribe projects that the museum will have the following capabilities: exhibition areas, interactive children's learning area, curatorial and archival facilities, ceremonial and conference spaces, recording studio, book and gift shop, and tribal library. Tribal members will take part in the planning and management of the museum, thereby revitalizing the culture of the community and nurturing its spiritual aspects.
