Mohegan Tribe

Log Number: MN-01-11-0014-11

The Mohegan Tribe will construct an interpretive path within and around an existing Mohegan village outside the Tantaquidgeon Museum. The existing village includes a wigwam, fire pit, stockade, and limited native plant landscaping. Oyster shells will be laid along the trail, which will be marked with educational signage in English and the newly restored Mohegan language. This project will create an engaging outdoor museum trail highlighted by 40 signs. The interpretive signs will include a historic site map (locating the village amid other sites within the traditional Mohegan Homeland), four special activity areas, and interpretation of plans and village life. Four age-appropriate, scavenger hunt–style educational handouts (related to everyday life in a traditional Mohegan village) will support the trail experience.
