Squaxin Island Tribe

The Squaxin Island Tribe will use grant funds for the Museum, Library, and Research Center’s Risk Evaluation and Emergency Planning Project. The project will focus on developing a tailored emergency plan, undertaking practical mitigation steps, and developing relationships with local first responders and tribal emergency management. The museum will hire a project manager to work with current museum staff to categorize and prioritize essential records and objects, implement an environmental monitoring system and protocols, develop an emergency preparedness and disaster recovery plan for the collection, and participate in training for staff and volunteers. The overall result of this effort will be enhanced museum services to meet the needs of the tribal community and the community at large.
