Montana State Library, Natural Resource Information System

The Montana State Library will educate and employ 10 new professional librarians in Montana through the development and implementation of a statewide campaign to promote librarianship as a career. The recruitment and promotion phase of the project will target Native American students and communities to increase the number of Native Americans in the profession. Students will receive scholarships to attend the Information School at the University of Washington in Seattle. Following graduation, four libraries in communities currently not served by professional librarians will receive stipends to hire the new graduates. Match: $165,305
