Northeast Document Conservation Center

The Northeast Document Conservation Center (NEDCC) will work in partnership with the Online Computer Library Center (OCLC) to develop, test, and disseminate a training program on digital preservation for staff in libraries, archives, museums, and other cultural heritage organizations. A project advisory committee of digital experts, library school educators, and representatives of state libraries will develop the content for a pilot conference, entitled Persistence of Memory, to be offered in NEDCC's region. After the event, the content will be evaluated and reshaped, the curriculum materials will be packaged, and the conference will be taken on the road to two locations outside NEDCC's region. Seventy-five scholarships will be awarded to ensure participation by diverse constituents, and approximately 500 professionals are expected to attend the conferences. NEDCC and OCLC will provide follow-up training to conference participants and distribute products to a broader audience through publications, Web-based training opportunities, and consultations.
