County of Alpena

The Alpena County George N. Fletcher Public Library will support its work using augmented reality technology, coupled with large-scale display screens, to integrate library collections and programs into the community in an engaging manner. The screens will highlight historic images found in the library’s Special Collections, and associated videos will feature local historians discussing the images as they relate to community history. The video content will also be accessible using a smartphone or tablet and a free app. The project will increase awareness of library collections and address the challenge of making local history collections relevant to patrons in the digital age.
