Opus 40

Log Number: ST-251093-OMS-21

Opus 40 will restore and repair the bluestone sculpture at the center of Harvey Fite’s 55-acre sculpture park, nestled in the Catskill Mountains. The central sculpture at Opus 40, which was built over a 40-year period, was formed on the floor of an abandoned bluestone quarry and consists of a series of undulating ramps, paths, platforms, grottos, pools, and stairs all constructed from millions of pieces of stone from the quarry operation and held in place with gravel. This project marks the first coordinated restoration of the sculpture and will also include the creation of a maintenance schedule and operations plan.
