John Hutchings Museum of Natural History

The Hutchings Museum will catalog, archive, digitize, and create 3D models of Native American and Buffalo Soldier related artifacts in its collection. The collection includes a variety of artifacts that highlight Native American and Black histories in the 19th and 20th centuries, as well as the history of Utah. For this project, museum staff will digitize wax cylinder audio recordings, update collection records, and rehouse objects. Additionally, staff will provide further interpretation of the objects through historical research and display. As a result of this project, staff will create publicly accessible in-person and digital exhibits that will include an interactive timeline of the objects in its collection.
