The University of South Carolina will use funds to preserve its collection of oral histories, documents, artwork, and artifacts at the University's Native American Studies Center.  Staff will work with a contractor to install archival shelving for approximately 2,000 objects, including a collection of Catawba Indian pottery. After the rehousing of objects in completed, staff will develop a disaster plan for the collection based on new storage specifications. Additionally for the project, staff with conduct interviews to record oral histories of Native communities in the low country and will curate a corresponding exhibit with community members from tribes in South Carolina. Digital materials and records of the collection will be publicly accessible through the online database, the South Carolina Native America Archive.
