Historic St. Mary's City

Historic St. Mary’s City, a National Historic Landmark, will complete a conservation assessment of archeological materials collected at this site representing Maryland’s first colonial capital. Curatorial and collections staff will assist a special project conservator in assessing previously recovered artifacts dating from the 17th century through the colonial and postcolonial periods. Project staff will photograph, x-ray, and rehouse artifacts as well as input relevant artifact data into a collections database. The conservator will identify artifacts to prioritize for future conservation work. Historic St. Mary’s City will utilize the objects for educational purposes in exhibitions and related programming.
