Orange Show Foundation

Log Number: ST-252543-OMS-22

The Orange Show Foundation will implement recommendations for a conservation assessment funded by the National Endowment for the Arts to restore and repair its sculptural environment. The site is an internationally recognized landmark in Houston, Texas, which was single-handedly built by a retired US Postal worker in a modest residential neighborhood. The project team will address the most challenging problems created by 65 years of humidity, sunlight, alternating floods and droughts, and a recent hard freeze that have caused the ground to shift and undermine the Orange Show’s setting. Major project goals are to install drainage, repair and stabilize exterior walls, address corrosion of steel support elements, conserve the Steam Engine pavilion, remove soiling, and repair selected finishes.
