Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art is using IMLS funds to engage the local Hispanic/Latino communities by hosting four visitor panels comprised of community members who have visited the museum and some who have not. The museum is working with a consulting evaluator to critique engagement strategies, including thematic gallery installations, museum marketing messages, and bilingual label formats. Another key part of the project will be consulting with other museums to support the prototyping and testing of new digital label technology for the delivery of content in an art museum setting. A multi-departmental team will review project findings to make short-term changes and develop an institution-wide plan for the future.
