Esperanza Arts Center

Log Number: ALHC-260287-OMS-26

The Esperanza Arts Center (EAC) will enhance its artist in residence program and build institutional capacity to support year-round exhibits. Project activities focus on the Galeria Esperanza, where each year, an artist in residence will curate two exhibits one showcasing their own work and another featuring other Latino artists. EAC will also present a student exhibit each summer. Additional activities include developing public programming, establishing an assistant curator opportunity for college students, training high school and/or college undergraduates through mentor fellowships, and building staff capacity to curate and care for temporary and traveling exhibits. Project results include professional development for EAC staff, two artists, one assistant curator, 12-16 mentor fellows, and 20 high school art students while broadly supporting increased exploration of American Latino art and culture in museums and expanded opportunities for audiences through high-quality exhibitions and educational programs.
