Log Number: ARPML-250566-OMLS-22

Delaware’s Brandywine Zoo will hire a community engagement leader to coordinate interconnected programs focusing on developing conservation awareness and engagement in Wilmington’s diverse communities, the needs of which were spotlighted during the COVID-19 pandemic. Programs will include both a conservation leadership academy focused on engaging low-income youth in environmental literacy topics and conservation service projects as well as Earth Agents, a program that empowers and provides resources to underserved families to become local environmental conservation change agents by developing community-based conservation projects. The zoo’ss new community engagement leader will create other opportunities for diverse communities to become involved in community science projects impacting the environment. The zoo will pay for guest speakers; underwrite the cost of conference attendance; and facilitate diversity, equity, inclusion, and social justice instruction and professional development for staff.
