Wing Luke Museum of the Asian Pacific American Experience

Log Number: IC-21-11-0093-11

The Wing Luke Asian Museum will use funds to complete the conservation and restoration of the painting, Rock Island Dam, dating to circa 1935, by Japanese-American Painter Takuichi Fujii, a first-generation Japanese immigrant and a member of the multiethnic artist association, The Group of Twelve, in Seattle. The painting illuminates understanding of the Japanese-American community before World War II, the impacts of the incarceration experience on the Japanese-American community, the pioneering Asian Pacific-American artists, and cross-cultural exchange among artists in Seattle before World War II.
