Wheelwright Museum of the American Indian

Log Number: IGSM-249925-OMS-21

The Wheelwright Museum of the American Indian will undertake a project designed to improve archives stewardship and access. The museum’s archival collections contain over 510 linear feet of correspondence, research and field notes, manuscripts, photos, and film from founder Mary Cabot Wheelwright and numerous other prominent scholars of Navajo culture. The project will use funds to purchase and install new compactor storage units providing adequate space with room for the future growth of collections. Museum staff also plan to increase documentation of the archives’ records in the museum’s new database, which will be accessible online, and create archival finding aids for faster access.
