San Diego Children's Discovery Museum

Log Number: IGSM-253020-OMS-23

The San Diego Children’s Discovery Museum will embark on the building, creating, and expansion phase of the Indigenous Peoples Project to strengthen staff and visitor's cultural appreciation and understanding of the City of Escondido’s first peoples, the Kumeyaay Nation and Luiseño tribes. Museum staff and tribal consultants will offer onsite Indigenous Peoples educational workshops and storytelling programs, staff development and training opportunities, and free access to the mobile STEM workshops for local tribal schools and community partners. As a result, the museum will solidify new partnerships and engage Indigenous Peoples partners to help advance knowledge and understanding of Indigenous Peoples, and children and caregivers will develop an appreciation for natural resources through the lens of Indigenous Peoples.
