Log Number: IGSM-257564-OMS-25
The Andrew Carnegie Free Library & Music Hall will undertake a project to conserve two uniform pieces from their Civil War collection. The two items are a hooded cloak belonging to George W. Freeman of Company H, 62nd Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry, and a vest that was part of the uniform worn by 1st Lieutenant George S. Drake of Company B, 77th Pennsylvania Infantry. The conservation of the uniform pieces will follow treatment proposals provided by a textile conservation firm. Once restored, the pieces will be placed on public display in the Captain Thomas Espy Post No. 153 of the Grand Army of the Republic, a historic site located within their library.
