Log Number: IGSM-257598-OMS-25
The Southeastern Quilt and Textile Museum will partner with the University of West Georgia Center for Public History to educate visitors about the textile heritage that shaped much of the southeast. This project will result in the research, planning, and creation of the Southeastern Textile Heritage Exhibit to share the textile industry legacy of Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Tennessee, and the Carolinas. The exhibit will introduce visitors to textile heritage through personal stories, photographs, oral history clips, and artifacts, and will provide visitors with a new understanding and appreciation for the people involved in the textile industry. Initial working themes of the project include the development of the textile industry in the southeast, diversity in manufacturing and products, mill workers' lives, and changing tides.
